Byron Optimist Minor Baseball Association Statement on the 2020 season and refund process.

On behalf of Byron Baseball, we are sorry to announce the cancellation of the 2020 baseball season. It's disappointing for all us, however, due to the current COVID-19 situation and the uncertainty of when emergency orders will be lifted by the provincial government and Baseball Ontario, we cannot move forward with this year’s ball season.
Maintaining a safe environment for players, their families as well as our volunteers is our priority and it was felt that we could not adequately maintain the safety of the community during these uncertain times.

We all enjoy the great game of baseball and we understand the physical and mental benefits of sports - testing your limits, building friendships, resiliency, working as a team, competing, and learning how to deal with success and failure.  As volunteers and active participants, all of us on the Byron Baseball board are disappointed too.

If the situation changes in the coming months, Byron Baseball will try to run some other baseball activities/clinics to keep the interest alive with our young players and still try to make the best of an unfortunate year.

We will issue a full refund to all participants.

Please respond to the email that will be in your inbox from your specific convener with your preferred email address in order to receive your refund via e-transfer.  Please know that Byron Baseball Board members will be manually processing hundreds of refunds, so it may take up to 45 days to receive your refund.

Any players that paid through Jumpstart will have their funds returned to Jumpstart.

Please note that in these challenging times the Byron Optimist Sports Complex, which is operated and funded by the Optimist Club of Byron with no assistance from the City of London, will be under financial stress with no rental fees from Byron Baseball.  If you would like to donate your refund to the complex, please note that in your message to your convener and a tax receipt can be issued to you from the complex.

We wish all of you a safe and enjoyable summer.  Should the opportunity arise later this season, we will update you on other baseball activities with Byron Baseball.
